Psoriasis is a common skin condition that creates red patches of skin with white, flaky scales. It typically occurs on the elbows, knees and torso, but can appear anywhere on the body including scalp, genitals and fingernails. It often cycles through periods of flare-ups and remissions throughout life. Most people with psoriasis are able to achieve clear or near-clear skin with appropriate treatments, which are customised to each patient by their dermatologist.
