Vitiligo is a dermatologic condition resulting from loss of pigmentation that shows up as patches of white skin, which can affect any area of the body. Common areas are the lips, face, arms, hands, genitals, and legs. The exact cause of vitiligo is not known however, there is often a history of other family members being affected. Although effective treatments are available, there is no cure.
